The work

Mariana Menezes is a contemporary artist whose practice moves between drawing and painting. The work is abstract and built by hand, favouring gesture, layered surface and a restrained earth-toned palette.

Process

Pieces develop slowly and without a fixed plan: marks are laid down, covered, and recovered until the surface holds a quiet balance. Studio progress is shared openly, work in progress included.
